Marny has been part of the Garden Connect team since November 2019 and at the moment she is in charge of corporate marketing. We would like to introduce you to Marny in this blog!
More than 2 years ago, Marny started at Garden Connect as a content marketeer and a marketing employee. At the moment she works as a corporate marketeer which means that she’s responsible for our marketing activities such as events, publications and online content. Her first impression of working at Garden Connect was positive. “I immediately liked the down to earth mentality in the company. The team is very nice and the ambience is warm & personal.”
Marny’s favorite plant is The Beaucarnea. She explains the following about this choice: “First of all, it’s a tropical plant, which gives me an instant holiday feeling. Besides that, it’s a little less common than a Monstera for example. Another benefit is that it produces oxygen and to be honest, it’s an easy plant to take care of.”
Marny likes to spend her free time at the beach or in the dunes, both in The Netherlands and abroad. On top of that, she plays handball, likes kitesurfing and she joins our weekly company boot camp training.
Before working at Garden Connect, Marny used to work in a completely different industry. “I worked as a marketeer for a company in the oil- and gas industry. The industry is hugely different, but the business to business experience is a great fit for my work at Garden Connect. My previous employer operated worldwide, I was mainly involved in events in the UK and Scandinavia. I worked there for 3 years until I moved from my hometown in the East of the Netherlands to the West, where I live now.
Marny has studied Media, Information and Communication in Enschede and during this time, she spent half a year in Curacao. Even though she had a bachelor degree and work experience, she was ready for another challenge. “At the moment I just finished the Master Content & Media Strategy. I did this master during Covid-19 times besides my job at Garden Connect. This gave me a lot of knowledge that I can use right away in my work.”
Looking back at the past years at Garden Connect, Marny is proud of the launch of the Garden Connect Academy. “This educative video channel is a great way to teach our clients all ins and outs of working with the Garden Connect Platform. Besides that, I’m proud of the Garden Connect Airlines theme that we’ve used for the events this year. It was very nice to think it through and to see it in real life on the events afterwards.
For the coming years, Marny has the following goal in mind: “I want to provide entrepreneurs in the garden industry with valuable content about online marketing to help them to reach their goals.”
