Top 5 marketing tips for 2015

For the garden retail industry, marketing never stands still and there are always exciting new ways to engage with your customers and target audience. It’s no secret, you need to know your customer and we are here to tell you how! Garden Connect has 5 top tips for 2015 to ensure you have the right marketing strategy:

Focus on your mobile presence

People are hyper-connected with their smartphones. A Twitter study found that 79% of people from 18-44 have their smartphones with them 22 hours a day. Is your garden centre communicating with this percentage? Why not? Ensure your garden centre website is mobile search optimised and has a responsive design. For garden centres who have a webshop, is your online checkout optimised for mobile devices? If not, you may be missing out on sales.

Time to get filming

Video is the future of online marketing. Today Youtube receives more than one billion unique visits per a month and a according to Cisco, in 2017 video will account for 69% of all internet traffic. Videos can be accessed from desktops, laptops, iPads and mobile devices making it even easier for your customers and target audience to access your garden centre videos. Why not film how to sow seeds or how to look after your tools and upload them to Youtube!

Maximise your social exposure

Twitter and Facebook are not the only way to communicate through social media. It’s surprising how many garden centres who still do not use any social media! Not all of your customers are on one particular social media platform. Make sure your garden centre’s social media is varied. Why not try Pinterest, Linkedin, Google Plus or Instagram this year?

Correct your content

From our research over the last 13 years, we have come across some garden centre websites with either no content or poor content. Google disapproves of websites with poor or duplicate content. It’s simple; regularly updated websites with good content get higher rankings whilst keeping your audience engaged!
