Introducing: Nikki Ysendoorn

Nikki has worked as a front-end developer at Garden Connect since January 2019. We’re happy to introduce you to her in this blog!

A new language

As a front-end developer, Nikki works on the new platform for the Garden Connect websites. That means that she facilitates all the processes for the development team. Her role in their team meetings is a coaching role, making sure the developers can do their work. ‘When I started working here, I learned a whole new code language. It was a great challenge and, at the same time, a big accomplishment!

Diversity

‘I find diversity very important in my work. I don’t want to do the same things every day. Lately, I’ve been focusing on becoming a scrum master, so I don’t have any new big goals yet.’ Nikki started working at Garden Connect after her internship in 2019. ‘When I just started, the company was bigger than I thought. I really like the team, and even though we have many new colleagues, we still do nice activities together. You get to know all your colleagues, even the ones you’re not working with on a daily basis.’

Plants with snack names

‘My plants have snack names, but since I ran out of names, I switched to vegetable names. My favourite is String of Hearts, which is a beautiful trailing plant.’ In her time off, Nikki enjoys going to festivals or out for dinner with friends.
